2019 Music

Band Beyond Description

Band 1.jpg

A Band Beyond Description was formed in 2001 in Portland, Maine, with a weekly gig at the Alehouse. Many members have come and gone but the cause has remained the same. BBD now has a weekly gig every thursday at The Big Easy on Market Street in downtown Portland. We a Grateful Dead “cover” band as opposed to a “tribute” band, which means we don’t neccessarily completely emulate the Dead, but we play Grateful Dead tunes with our own personal styles. In keeping iin tradition with the Grateful Dead, we also cover some other great artists such as The Band, Allman Brothers, and Phish.

The Work Trucks

Brendan Lake is a singer/songwriter and small boat adventurist who has sailed his ships and sung his songs for audiences in harbor towns on the east coast from Maine to the Florida Keys, in Europe and the Azores. He played all around the San Francisco Bay area while living aboard his schooner and gained notoriety there as a solo act. Since returning to his home in Woolwich Maine, the ever changing lineup of his combo "Brendan Lake and Friends" has solidified into his current band "The Work Trucks".

We are proud to announce that Maine's Big Z 92.7 & 105.5 is the exclusive radio partner of the 2018 Great Falls Brewfest.
